PRODUCT DETAILS:

1921 Peace Silver Dollar Coin - Brilliant Uncirculated Condition

COIN HIGHLIGHTS:

  • First year of production for the Peace Dollar!
  • Features a high relief finish, which was done only in the Peace Dollar's inaugural year.
  • The obverse features an image of Lady Liberty, modeled after Teresa de Francisci. She wears a crown as her hair blows in the wind, while the coin's year of mintage lies beneath her, and the word "LIBERTY" above her. You'll also find the words "IN GOD WE TRUST" on the front of the coin.
  • The reverse design shows a Bald Eagle at rest, clutching onto an olive branch. Beneath it is the word "PEACE" and above it the words "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA." You can also find the coin's face value on the back.
  • Mintage of 1,006,473 coins.
  • Contains .7734 oz of 90% Silver.
  • Struck at the Philadelphia Mint.
  • All coins grade MS-60 or higher!

1921 Peace Dollars are special not just for being the first year of the issue, but for being struck in very high relief. Because it is not practical to mint coins this way, as it is very hard on the dies, a lower relief design was adopted in 1922. This in affect makes the 1921 Peace Dollar a one year type coin!

Peace Dollars were issued yearly from 1921 until 1928, but when the financial markets crashed in 1929, production was ceased. In 1934, with the economy beginning to recover, Peace Silver Dollars were again produced for circulation. In 1935 however, the U.S. Mint again stopped production, this time for good.

The Peace Dollar was designed by Anthony de Francisci and the coins were struck at all three mints, though Philadelphia was the only mint to issue them for the entire series run.

  • A really nice coin but not quite the gem I was hoping for. Overall MP does a great job with their coin selections
  • Very nice example of a BU uncirculated coin. MP is my only internet coin store!
  • This BU beauty is the new highlight to my Peace Dollar collection. In fact so amazing I just sent it off to be graded by NGC. Thank you MP for EXCELLENT customer service & products!!!
  • The 1921 Peace dollar I received is a very nice coin. A little flat on the hair over the ear, but that is typical for this coin. A coin with stronger hair relief would likely be more expensive. Overall, the coin condition and eye appeal is pleasing. Nice clean coin, it appears to have no problems. I plan to send it off to NGC in the future. I think it might come back with a decent grade, perhaps 62 or 63. Overall, I'm pleased with the coin for the price I paid. I have purchased many items from Mint Products over the past 9 years, and I have always felt that I received problem free, and accurately graded coins. I would recommend Mint Products to anyone who is looking for a reliable, and honest internet coin dealer.
  • Finally able to add this to my collection - Thanks for a great coin
