21/2 Indian Gold Coin - MS-62

2.50 Indian Gold Coin - Certified MS-62

Two and a half dollar (and five dollar) gold Indians represent a departure from all preceding designs. These gold pieces have no raised rim and all the devices and legends are struck incuse rather than in relief as normal. Each of the coins offered here has been independently authenticated and graded by NGC or PCGS, the two most respected grading services. Dates & grading service (ngc or pcgs) our choice. For those new to coin grading: Coins are graded on a scale from 1-70. An MS-1 (the MS is for "mint state") would be a coin barely identifiable, While an MS-70 would be a perfect coin . Uncirculated coins start at MS-60 with an MS-63 coin being considered "choice" and MS-65 examples and higher being considered "gem". The term "superb" is often used for MS-67 and higher grades. The MS-62 coins such as those we offer here are coins which are a small mark or two away from making the choice grade, but should not have the more distracting features that a MS-60 or 61 coin may have.
