Egyptian Bronze Of Ptolemy VI - Features Zeus!

Ptolemy VI Philometor was a king of Egypt During the Ptolemaic period. He reigned from 180 to 145 BC starting at the age of 6 and ruled jointly with his mother, Cleopatra I, until her death in 176 BC. In the year 164 he was driven out of power by his brother and went to Rome to seek support. Ptolemy received the needed support from Cato and was restored the following year by the intervention of the Alexandrians. From then on he ruled cruelly while suppressing frequent rebellions. Ptolemy VI Philometer was killed in Syria while fighting against Alexander Balas.
