PRODUCT DETAILS:

2011 Gettysburg Quarter Coin - P or D Mint - (UNC) Brilliant Uncirculated

COIN HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Released on 1/24/2011.
  • The obverse shows a slightly modified version of the original Washington Quarter. The mint moved some of the wording previously found on the reverse to the obverse in order to make more room for the reverse design for each state. You'll find "United States of America," "In God We Trust," "Liberty," and "Quarter Dollar" all spelled out on the obverse of the quarter as well as the coin's mint mark.
  • The reverse of the Gettysburg National Park quarter depicts the 72nd Pennsylvania Infantry Monument.
  • The 5 National Parks Released in 2011 were Gettysburg National Military Park in Pennsylvania, Glacier National Park in Montana, Olympic National Park in Washington, Vicksburg National Military Park in Mississippi and Chickasaw National Recreation Area in Oklahoma.
  • Sovereign coin minted at the U.S. Mint and backed by the United States government with a face value of $0.25.

On July 1-3 1863 Union and Confederate troops fought the Battle of Gettysburg. Gettysburg was the bloodiest single battle of the Civil War with over 50,000 casualties and the eventual Union victory was a major turning point in the war. Major battle sites at Gettysburg were preserved almost immediately after the battle.

The park came under federal ownership in 1895. Administered by the National Park Service (NPS) since 1933, Gettysburg National Military Park now incorporates a large portion of land across which the battle, its aftermath, and the commemoration took place.

Select either 'P' - Philadelphia Mint, or 'D' - Denver Mint from the drop-down options menu located above.

All coins come in protective plastic. Orders of 40 or more may ship in tubes.

  • Both mints were very nice again. recommend it....
  • A+
  • Great example of the coin -- the park series and the state series shows the government can still have the occasional good idea.
  • Beautiful uncirculated coin, as always.
