In 2009, the United States Mint will issue four different one-cent coins in recognition of the bicentennial of President Abraham Lincoln's birth and the 100Th anniversary of the first Lincoln cent. While the obverse (heads) will continue to bear the likeness of President Lincoln used since 1909, the reverse will reflect four different designs, each one representing a different aspect, or theme, of the life of President Lincoln. The third issue depicts Abraham Lincoln as a young professional standing in front of the old state capitol building in Springfield, Ill. It includes the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM and ONE CENT, and was designed by United States Mint Artistic Infusion Program Master Designer Joel Iskowitz and sculpted by United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Don Everhart.
