These 90% silver half dollars were struck in honor of the 250th anniversary of George Washingtons birth. Minted in 1982, these were the first commemoratives issued since 1954. The explosion of of commemoratives in recent years can certainly be attributed to the popularity these coins enjoyed at the time of their issue. Each comes housed in its original mint box with certificate. The proofs are encapsulated, with the uncirculated examples being sealed in cellophane.
