- Designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, considered by many to be the greatest modern sculptor, set a new standard of beauty in American coins with his design of this 10.00 gold piece and the 20.00 gold coin which was given his name, the $20.00 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle gold coin.
- The obverse features a portrait of Lady Liberty wearing an Indian war bonnet, inscribed with her name, Liberty. Encircling her are 13 stars, 1 representing each of the 13 original colonies. The coin's date is also found on the front of the coin.

The reverse features the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" above a fierce eagle design, along with the coin's denomination, "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "IN GOD WE TRUST," although the motto was not featured on the earliest designs.
These coins were minted between 1907 and 1933 and were designed by one of the most famous sculptors in history, Augustus Saint-Gaudens.
