PRODUCT DETAILS:

1800's Seated Liberty Silver Dimes - Random Dates -  Fine Condition

COIN HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Dates ranging from 1838-1891.
  • The seated dimes offered here are in full fine condition. The main standard for grading these (and most other seated coinage) in circulated condition is the word "LIBERTY" on the shield located, on the obverse. To be considered fine, the word "LIBERTY" must be complete, though not necessarily sharp.
  • All coins come in protective plastic.

Seated dimes are one of the longest running series of U.S. coins. Issued from 1837 to 1891 the series saw several minor design changes. For the first two years the obverse (front) design was just a seated liberty figure, later in 1838, stars were added around liberty. In 1853 arrows were added at the date (to make the coins heavier!) these were removed in 1856. In 1859 the stars were replaced with "United States Of America" around liberty (which was previously on the reverse). The wreath on the reverse (back) was also enlarged and enhanced at that time. The design remained unchanged until production ceased in 1891.

Four mints were used to strike these, they were Philadelphia, New Orleans, San Francisco and Carson City. The same basic design was also used on Half Dimes, Twenty Cent pieces, Quarters, Half Dollars and Dollars. While there are many easily collectible dates of seated dimes, rarities do exist (unfortunately none are included in the group offered here). The 1871-CC and 1873-CC are quite rare.

  • Ordered 4 and got 4 different dates. All were problem free (no nicks or scratches) and had all letters in liberty visible.
  • I bought 10 of these recently and all of them were great and as advertised. I highly recommend these seated dimes or really any seated coin because of the value of them. If you don't know what I mean, check the blue book. Not one I received, no matter what date. are less than seven dollars. With most of them way higher. Of course, depending on date and/or mint mark, this is a whole sale book like the red book. I think thirty dollars is the lowest for one of them. Doesn't matter what the date is and of course way higher if it's a better dated coin.
  • bought 3 seated lib. 10c. and 2 were cleaned. i returned them for replacements and after 28 days still no coins. i was told twice that they were being shipped and still no coins. you be the judge...
  • The 1857 coin received was indeed a nice original no-problem Fine example. Why bother with ebay and worry about quality. If MP has it, just get it here. You won't go wrong.
  • Reasonable price and was in fine condition.
