This 1944-P Jefferson Nickel is a two for one deal! You get the obverse and the reverse in two separate ANACS holders.
The Split Planchet After Strike Error occurs when some impurities or dirt are in the metal, causing the cracks or layers to peel away from each other, in this case, it caused the coin to fully split after the dies struck the blank. The "reverse" of the obverse and the "obverse" of the reverse both are striated and show a "ghost" Jefferson profile (more evident on the "obverse" of the reverse).
Certainly an interesting Error Coin that would fit into any collection or errors of Jefferson Nickels!
