George Washington Half Dollar - The First "Modern" Commemorative!
These uncirculated 90% silver half dollars were struck in honor of the 250th anniversary of George Washington's birth. The obverse features Washington in uniform on horseback, while the reverse features "Mount Vernon" Washington's famous home. Minted in 1982, these were the first commemoratives issued since 1954. The explosion of commemoratives in recent years can certainly be attributed to the popularity these coins enjoyed at the time of their issue.
Each Uncirculated Silver Half Dollar comes housed in its original mint box with certificate of authenticity and is sealed in cellophane.
