1999-P Lincoln Cent - Double Struck Mint Error - Two Lincolns
This Lincoln Cent Error features what is called a double strike error - when the die strikes the same planchet twice after it does not eject from the chamber properly.
In this case, the coin rotated before the second off center strike occurred, resulting in a full upside down portrait of Lincoln on the left side of the obverse and a partial right-side up portrait of Lincoln on the right side of the obverse. The inscriptions LIBERTY and IN GOD WE are on the left side, while WE TRUST and 1999 can be seen on the right.
On the reverse, the Lincoln Memorial appears to be stretched on the left-hand side due to the double strike. The inscriptions seen include ONE CENT, STATES OF AMERICA and a partial PLURIBUS UNUM.
A unique error coin you won't find anywhere else!
