PRODUCT DETAILS:

2010 Grand Canyon Quarter Coin - P or D Mint - (UNC) Brilliant Uncirculated

COIN HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Released on 9/20/2010.
  • The obverse shows a slightly modified version of the original Washington Quarter. The mint moved some of the wording previously found on the reverse to the obverse in order to make more room for the reverse design for each state. You'll find "United States of America," "In God We Trust," "Liberty," and "Quarter Dollar" all spelled out on the obverse of the quarter as well as the coin's mint mark.
  • The reverse of the Grand Canyon National Park quarter shows a view of the granaries above the Nankoweap Delta in Marble Canyon near the Colorado River. Granaries were used for storing food and seeds by Native Americans as far back as 1,500 years ago.
  • The 5 National Parks Released in 2010 were Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas, Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, Yosemite National Park in California, Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona and Mount Hood National Forest in Oregon.
  • Sovereign coin minted at the U.S. Mint and backed by the United States government with a face value of $0.25.

First afforded Federal protection in 1893 as a Forest Reserve and later as a National Monument, Grand Canyon did not achieve National Park status until 1919, three years after the creation of the National Park Service. Today, Grand Canyon National Park receives about five million visitors each year - a far cry from the 44,173 visitors the park received in 1919.

Select either 'P' - Philadelphia Mint, or 'D' - Denver Mint from the drop-down options menu located above.

All coins come in protective plastic. Orders of 40 or more may ship in tubes.
