PRODUCT DETAILS:

2012 Chaco Culture Quarter Coin - S Mint - (UNC) Brilliant Uncirculated

COIN HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Released on 4/2/2012.
  • The obverse shows a slightly modified version of the original Washington Quarter. The mint moved some of the wording previously found on the reverse to the obverse in order to make more room for the reverse design for each state. You'll find "United States of America," "In God We Trust," "Liberty," and "Quarter Dollar" all spelled out on the obverse of the quarter as well as the coin's mint mark.
  • The reverse depicts a view of Chaco Canyon to the west of two elevated kivas (enormous circular underground “houses”) that are part of the Chetro Ketl Complex. The design also shows the north wall of Chetro Ketl and the north wall of the canyon.
  • The 5 National Parks Released in 2012 were El Yunque National Forest in Puerto Rico, Chaco Culture National Historical Park in New Mexico, Acadia National Park in Maine, Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park in Hawaii and Denali National Park and Preserve in Alaska.
  • Sovereign coins minted at the San Francisco Branch of the U.S. Mint and backed by the United States government, each with a face value of $0.25. The America the Beautiful Quarter Program began in 2010, but Uncirculated Quarters were not minted at San Francisco until 2012.

Chaco Culture was originally established as a national monument on March 11, 1907 and re-designated a national historical park on December 19, 1980. The Chaco Culture National Historical Park in New Mexico honors the Hopi Indians of Arizona, the Pueblo Indian peoples of New Mexico and the Navajo Indians of the southwest.

All coins come in protective plastic. Orders of 40 or more may ship in tubes.

  • Nice S mint coin. Hope someday the holders are revamped to include spaces for these S mint coins. Right now there is no holder to put them in.
