Ronald Reagan served as the 40th President of the United States from 1981-1989. Born in February of 1911 in Tampico, Illinois, he worked his way through college and then began a job as a radio announcer. While he was in college, Reagan became interested in acting and signed with a major studio in 1937. With more than fifty films to his credit, he also acted in training films for the military during World War II while he was serving in the Army Air Force.

Reagan had also had an avid interest in politics and in 1966 he became the Governor of California and served for two terms. His 1976 run against Gerald R. Ford for President was unsuccessful but in 1980 he defeated Jimmy Carter in the Presidential election thus becoming the Nation's 40th President on January 20, 1981.

President Reagan had a number of highlights during his administration including but not limited to promoting a program designed to boost the economy through tax cuts, restraints in domestic spending and deregulations, appointing the first woman to the Supreme Court of the United States, and negotiating a treaty with the Soviet Union that eliminated intermediate range nuclear arms.

Ronald had two children with his first wife Jane Wyman, a daughter named Maureen and an adopted son named Michael. He had an additional two children with his second wife Nancy Davis named Patricia and Ronald. Ron and Nancy's strong 52 year marriage has long been narrated as a true love story. Unfortunately, after an almost decade long battle with Alzheimer's Disease, President Reagan passed away on June 5, 2004 in Bel Air, Los Angeles, California.

  • PURCHASED THE P AND D MINTS, AND AS ALWAYS I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE QUALITY OF THESE COINS.
  • received my order within 3 days. As always thank you for your promptness. My coins were in excellent condition.
  • The dollar coins are not the best in quality and upkeep in the folder that I have. They are turning brown and the take away from the look of the other dollars in the folder,
  • A great offering by the US mint to honor one of our best Presidents.
