2019 Clone Trooper Star Wars Coin - One Ounce Silver - Brilliant Uncirculated
The fourth coin in the Niue Star Wars Series features a soldier of the Galactic Empire, known as a Clone Trooper, heading into combat with his DC-15S blaster. Having fought on both sides of the Force, it's hard to say who will be on the other side of his blaster rifle, but with the Imperial Logo in the background, the indication points to the Light Side of the Force - perhaps Obi-Wan Kenobi, Princess Leia, Han Solo, or Luke Skywalker.
Before Stormtroopers were following orders on behalf of Darth Vader, Clone Troopers were fighting alongside Jedi all over the galaxy fighting for the Republic. Made by cloning the genetic template of bounty hunter Jango Fett, these troopers were created to fight on the Light Side of the Force in what was deemed the "Clone Wars." However, Senator Palpatine (Darth Sidious), had implanted a chip into the troopers and with Order 66, they turned on their Republic allies, wiped out (most of) the Jedi, and were forced to join forces with the Imperial Regime.
The first in the series, the 2017 Darth Vader Silver Coin, was a big hit among Silver Coin enthusiasts and Star Wars Fans alike. It was followed by the 2018 Stormtrooper Silver Coin and the 2018 Darth Vader with Lightsaber Silver Coin. This new 2019 issue featuring a less highlighted character often overlooked in the Star Wars world, continues with the series Dark Side of the Force theme. Minted with one ounce of .999 fine silver, it is a great addition to any silver bullion stack. The limited mintage of 250,000 will make it highly desirable among collectors of all kinds!
Among the Clone Trooper design on the reverse, the Imperial Crest and inscriptions NZM and 1 oz 999 fine silver are also seen. This coin is officially licensed by Lucasfilm Ltd. as indicated by the copyright. Though BU, the reverse does have a polished finish. The obverse is the same as the 2017 and 2018 issues and shows Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley. Also included are the country, year, and face value amount.
The New Zealand Mint has introduced a variety of popular character bullion coins over the years. Now you too can help the Dark Side prevail when you add this coin to your collection!
