2019 South Africa 1 oz Silver Krugerrand - Brilliant Uncirculated
In 2018, the the South African Mint introduced the first ever Brilliant Uncirculated Silver Krugerrand! This Silver Bullion Coin, featuring the likeness of Paul Kruger, quickly gained popularity. A more affordable way to collect the Krugerrand design, it made its way into numismatic collections and investment portfolios around the globe.
Due to high demand, the South African Mint is releasing a 2019 issue. Will this Uncirculated Silver Coin be a new yearly issue? Only time will tell. While the Proof Krugerrand is solely manufactured by the South African Mint, the Uncirculated Issues is a join production effort between the SAM and the Rand Refinery.

OBVERSE FEATURES: The obverse shows an image of Paul Kruger, who was South Africa’s first president, along with “South Africa” in both Afrikaans and English.
REVERSE FEATURES: The reverse features a Springbok antelope, which is the national animal of South Africa, along with the year of minting, face value and Silver weight.
In July of 1967, the South African Mint released the first ever Gold Bullion Coin - the Gold Krugerrand - and they have been popular ever since. The mint celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2017, where they introduced several special versions of the Krugerrand including Silver and Platinum issues. However, 2018 marked the first year an Uncirculated Silver Krugerrand was released, previously, only Gold versions were minted.
