PRODUCT DETAILS:

1999 Connecticut State Quarter Coin - P or D Mint - (UNC) Brilliant Uncirculated

COIN HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Released on 10/12/1999.
  • The obverse shows a slightly modified version of the original Washington Quarter. The mint moved some of the wording previously found on the reverse to the obverse in order to make more room for the reverse design for each state. You'll find "United States of America," "In God We Trust," "Liberty," and "Quarter Dollar" all spelled out on the obverse of the quarter as well as the coin's mint mark.
  • The reverse of the Connecticut Quarter Dollar depicts an image of an important part of the state's history - the "Charter Oak" along with the date of the states inception.
  • The Charter Oak was an unusually large white oak tree that grew on Wyllys Hill in Hartford, Connecticut beginning in the 12th century.  According to tradition, the Connecticut Royal Charger of 1662 was hidden within the hollow of the tree to prevent confiscation of the document by the English. The Charter Oak became a symbol of American Independence until it fell during a storm in 1856.  Before finding a permanent home on the Connecticut State Quarter, the Charter Oak was commemorated on a half dollar in 1935 as part of the Connecticut Tercentennial celebration.
  • The Connecticut State Quarter was released in 1999 along with the Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Georgia State Quarters.
  • Sovereign coin minted at the U.S. Mint and backed by the United States government with a face value of $0.25.

Select either 'P' - Philadelphia Mint, or 'D' - Denver Mint from the drop-down options menu located above.
