The Hawaii Quarter was the 50th quarter released in the U.S. Mint's 50 State Quarters Program. The reverse of the Hawaii Quarter Dollar depicts an image of the Hawaiian monarch King Kamehameha I stretching his hand toward the eight Hawaiian Islands. The reverse design also includes the inscriptions "UA MAU KE EA O KA INA I KA PONO," ("The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness"), "Hawaii" and "1959."
